Patrick's Pack
Patrick Lease, 7, of Fort Lewis and his family and friends have formed “Patrick’s Pack.” They will dress up in costume and run in this month’s Jingle Bell Run to help find a cure for arthritis. In his first run, three years ago, Patrick was scrunched in his stroller, unable to walk and close to death because of juvenile rheumatoid arthritis. This year, the irrepressible boy is jumping and running and his been named the Jingle Bell Run’s Honoree and symbol of hope.

‘We’ve Got Your Back’
The children at the South End Boys & Girls Club in Tacoma jumped into the national “We’ve Got Your Back” project with enthusiasm – filling 53 backpacks with 1,200 pounds of supplies for children displaced by Hurricane Katrina.

Megan’s Mission
Megan Johnson, 14, of Federal Way has been making blankets and scarves and handing them out to Seattle’s homeless for five years. Born with a birth defect that affects her facial appearance, she knows what it’s like to be different and to feel left out, and so takes time to listen to those she meets on the streets and to pray for them.

Reduce Holiday Stress
A child psychologist suggests 10 practical ways to reduce holiday stress, beginning with having realistic expectations and reassessing what “must” be done to make the “perfect” holiday.
